Feb 2026Developer Update #4 — the release schedule was postponed so the team could finish a full combat overhaul (moving from the energy-based system toward a more fluid, stamina-based one); BETA 4 was moved to the Steam Next Fest window and the global launch to July. A PS5 version was officially announced, alongside a small invitation-only test in April 2026.
Jun 15–22, 2026Open Beta (BETA 4) during Steam Next Fest — ran June 15 (01:00 UTC) through June 22 (10:00 UTC); the game drew roughly 430,000 players and charted on Steam’s Top Demos and Top Trending Upcoming lists.

Mistfall Hunter third wave launch rewards
The third wave of launch rewards celebrated the one-million Gyldhunters milestoneOfficial announcement artwork
  • September 18, 2026 — Autumn sale announced. Bellring announced a 10% Steam discount — the same figure as the launch sale — running from September 24, 2026 (17:00 UTC+0) to October 8, 2026 (17:00 UTC+0). The post notes that actual prices and discount periods may vary by region. See the price guide for list prices and the patch notes for the full entry.
  • September 15, 2026 — Fifth balance pass. A no-downtime update at 08:00 UTC+0, requiring a client update from your platform store afterwards. It is the fifth balance pass and the first to name all six classes, though almost every line is a fix and the numeric moves are described as “slight” with no figures. Four Season Tasks were recut ([Soul Hunt], [All or Nothing], and the single-session reset restriction removed from [Battle-Tested] and [Preserving the Truth]), stackable items in Pip’s Pouch gained proper stacking, Execute no longer triggers the [Smiting] affix, and the [Fervor] gem affix was reduced. The headline infrastructure change: non-CN servers switched from AWS EFS to EBS storage, which Bellring says resolved rare hitches lasting over five seconds caused by a log I/O disk-write bottleneck — the first cause it has named at the infrastructure layer and the first it has called resolved (official post ).
  • September 9, 2026 — Weekend rewards and dynamic player cap. From the weekend of September 11–13, 2026 until the end of Season 1, Combat Supplies arrive by in-game mail at 00:00 every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday server time — a Pro Combat Bag on Friday, a Pro Combat Bag on Saturday, and an Elite Combat Bag on Sunday, each with its own 24-hour claim window (weekend rewards guide). The same post shipped a server-side dynamic player cap for matchmaking, so all game modes may start with fewer players, with no floor or per-mode figure published (official post ).
  • September 3, 2026 — Brandrgarde Solo Mode + fourth balance pass. A no-downtime update at 08:00 UTC+0 opened Solo Mode for Brandrgarde’s Normal and Cataclysm difficulties — the first update since launch to add a mode rather than tune existing ones, and the fix for the long-standing complaint that solo players had only one map to queue. The fourth balance pass landed on Shadowstrix as DevNote #8 promised (longer wind-ups on Phantom Shift and Free Movement, a Flurry Strike charge that drains Energy), Sorcerer’s Thunderstrike lost its distance falloff, Blackarrow’s Steel Arrow cooldown dropped with a larger reduction in Trio than Solo, and Mercenary gained Perfect Block stagger. Two Gyldening damage faults were fixed and tower elevators gained safety railings. The companion post carried the one-month anniversary mail (claim window closed September 13) — see Brandrgarde solo mode and patch notes.
  • August 28, 2026 — Maintenance update: the task grind is cut. The first update since launch delivered behind a maintenance window (roughly two hours from 06:30 UTC+0) rather than live. It eased Season and Contract Tasks after persistent difficulty feedback — lower kill counts, “execute” requirements changed to “defeat”, equipment-value conditions replaced by rarity, container-search Contract tasks removed, and the Daily Task reward raised from 30 to 40 Contract Sigils — without removing a single task from the season (season tasks guide). The same build added an Oceania server, removed enemy nameplates from matches to curb cross-teaming, cut the Soul of Return stack limit to 1, and carried the third balance pass, which removed invincibility frames from Mercenary dodges (official post ).
  • August 19, 2026 — Class-balance live update (Dev Note 8). The eighth developer update deployed as a no-downtime update at 08:00 UTC (Steam news ). Mercenary received targeted PvP nerfs (Perfect Block stagger duration, solo Perfect Defense energy costs, Stacked Slash PvP damage, Impalement hitbox), while the Withered Knight was heavily buffed: Super Armor on fully charged heavy strikes, movement and attack-speed improvements across Greatsword skills, reduced Parry and Breakthrough Charge cooldowns, and a reworked Withering Mark that now applies a slow and dodge reduction. Shadowstrix, Sorcerer, and Seer picked up targeted fixes, the Unyielding gem affix bug was resolved, and quality-of-life additions included a Scavenger Squad material refresh mechanic, an invulnerability window in Mist Lord rooms, dedicated-server frame-rate monitoring, and expanded controller customization. Full details in the Patch Notes; coverage via IGN .
  • August 14, 2026 — Soul Harvest fully live. The Season 1 themed mode went live across every map and difficulty tier with its exchange shop and seasonal tasks. During active rituals the new Soul Narr enemy interferes while rival hunters can interrupt the encounter — a deliberately high-risk PvPvE loop (see Soul Harvest). The same window shipped moderation upgrades (Block function, report-feedback emails, ad-account bans) and another round of server-stability work targeting rubber-banding reports.
  • August 12, 2026 — No-downtime fix batch + first penalties. A no-downtime update fixed a batch of known issues, including a lockout where being interrupted mid-execution froze all actions and team-mode issues (PatchBot summary ). The same week, the studio confirmed it had issued the first round of Fair Play penalties against confirmed cheaters.
  • August 7, 2026 — Server-side online update. Bellring rolled out a server-side online update (official Steam news ) with no client download required. It fixed an issue where canceling a Polearm & Shield charge would abnormally trigger the Focused affix’s movement speed bonus (see the Withered Knight guide). The same post delivered a progress update on reported issues: the server-lag investigation is ongoing and handled case by case — the studio warned “a one-shot fix for every lag issue may not be possible”; chat moderation has banned nearly 30 ad accounts, with a Block feature arriving in next week’s update; and the team continues to address cheating and Illegal Teaming, with report-feedback emails rolling out soon. It also confirmed the next client update will officially launch Soul Harvest and open up Season Tasks (see Soul Harvest and the roadmap).
  • August 6, 2026 — Client update: Dried Flower Knot & Einherjar Mist Lord. Bellring Games deployed a client update (official Steam news ) that increased Dried Flower Knot drops and opened up challenges for the Einherjar Mist Lord, whose defeat carries a higher chance of dropping Holy Weapons or Holy Forging Materials. The same build took on recent community feedback to improve overall stability, and the team said it was still actively investigating the reported stuttering and latency issues. The detailed patch notes were subsequently published, covering class balance (Blackarrow, Withered Knight, Mercenary, Sorcerer) and a large bug-fix batch — see the Patch Notes guide for the full list.
  • August 3, 2026 — Fair Play Penalty announcement. Bellring published a Fair Play Penalty Announcement on the Steam news hub, committing to strict action against behavior that undermines fair play: confirmed cheaters receive a permanent ban, and Illegal Teaming — multiple players deliberately entering the same match to work together against other players — faces penalties. The post also corrected a mistranslation of the Illegal Teaming rule in some language versions (which had been wrongly rendered as “cooperate with others”), clarifying that normal squad play is unaffected. See the Patch Notes for the full breakdown.
  • July 30, 2026 — Global launch. Mistfall Hunter went live at 01:00 UTC across PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox, with Day One Xbox Game Pass availability. The official press release confirmed the 10% launch discount running from July 30 (01:00 UTC) to August 12, 2026 (17:00 UTC).
  • July 30, 2026 — Launch rewards. In an official post, the developers reported that more than 100,000 players had joined within eight hours of launch. As thanks, they distributed a Thumbs Up gesture and 500 Soul Coins via in-game mail to players who logged in before September 1, 2026 (00:00 UTC). The same post announced a client update at July 30, 16:00 UTC (July 31, 00:00 Beijing time) after storefront review approval, which included a fix for an occasional PS5 deck-screen display anomaly. Steam news also promised mail rewards (a Bell of Return frame, a Finger Heart pose, and a “No it’s a bug” emote) for playtest participants.
  • Launch-week reception. As of August 6, 2026, Steam user reviews sit at “Mixed” (roughly 68% positive across about 3,650 reviews at the time of writing, up from ~1,780 on July 31). Common complaints in Steam reviews focused on solo-queue map access, performance stutter, and microtransaction reliance, while many reviewers praised the PvP combat. The game topped the Steam Weekly Top Sellers chart (paid games) for Week 32 (July 28 – August 4, 2026) per VGChartz , with a weekly peak of roughly 44,000 concurrent players, and sat 3rd in the overall chart once free-to-play titles (Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2) were included — up from an early 3rd-place Steam sales debut with ~19,000 concurrent a few hours after launch per press tracking (Steam-only figures that exclude Xbox and Game Pass players).
  • August 5, 2026 — One-million milestone & Wave 3 rewards. Bellring Games confirmed that more than 1,000,000 Gyldhunters had joined Mistfall Hunter across all platforms (see player count). To celebrate, the studio distributed the third wave of launch rewards to players who logged in before August 12, 2026 (12:00 UTC), as confirmed in the official announcement : the Standing Pose: Spellcasting, Moonlight Nectar ×5, Pro Combat Bag ×1, and Advanced Combat Bag ×1 (combat bags). The same announcement bundled a fresh roadmap laying out the rest of Phase I of Season 1 — Season Tasks, the Soul Harvest exchange shop, the Blackarrow Javelin weapon, the Golden Woodling monster, a Brandrgarde Solo Mode, an Underlord Speed Challenge, the Ancestor Tree event, and a Season 2 teaser (see the roadmap).

Season 1 CadencePermalink to this section

Season 1 Soul Hunt shipped with the launch on July 30, 2026. Its themed mode, Soul Harvest, went live on August 12–14, 2026 across every map and difficulty tier. Since then the season has added Brandrgarde solo queues (September 3), recurring weekend Combat Supplies (from September 11), and the Season Tasks easing passes (August 28 and September 15).

Still ahead in Season 1, per the August 5 roadmap: the Ancestor Tree random-match event on Hallowgrove, the Golden Woodling monster, the Underlord Speed Challenge, and the Blackarrow Javelin weapon line. None of those have a published date, and the roadmap’s Season 2 teaser — “Fires of the Past await their rekindling” — is undated as well.

The press release describes Mistfall Hunter as a live-service title that will grow with new seasons roughly every three months, and the developers have confirmed ongoing performance and matchmaking work alongside each update. On cadence: Bellring has never published a patch schedule, but the client builds have landed 6–12 days apart, and the two most recent shipped on September 3 and September 15.
