Mistfall Hunter Lore

Mistfall Hunter Lore

Mistfall Hunter’s story is set in the shattered land of Weavereach, where a war between the Gods and the Outer Gods ended with all the deities dead — and their spilled blood became the Gyldenmist, a corrosive fog that devours the world. This hub collects the established lore scattered across the guides, maps, and quest pages, so you can trace the world’s story without re-reading every page.

The Gyldenmist

The Gyldenmist is the golden fog that has swallowed Weavereach — both the game’s central piece of lore and its signature gameplay hazard. It is born from the blood of the fallen gods, sweeps across the land, warps the souls of the living, and drives them to madness and monstrous mutation. See The Gyldenmist for the full breakdown, including how the fog behaves differently in each region.

The World

  • Weavereach — the shattered land where the story opens, civilization collapsed.
  • Hallowgrove — the open woodland region, where the mist does not shrink and “uncontrolled souls and the Gyldenmist have intertwined.”
  • Brandrgarde — the ruined northern fortress, where the Gyldenmist closes in over time and creates faster, more intense combat.
  • The Capital — the fallen royal seat; the researcher Otto came from here before the corruption consumed him.

The Gods and Their Blood

  • The Gods and Outer Gods — their war ended with all deities fallen; their blood is the Gyldenmist.
  • Kjernnos — a god whose divine blood is tied to the deepest corruption. In the Flesheater’s Feast, the Mist Lord Otto is described as a victim of Kjernnos’s divine blood, twisted into a flesh-devouring monstrosity.
  • Argus — a legendary figure in the Sorcerer’s skill lore: credited with teaching lightning at Thunder Ridge, and whose three-day meteor shower before the Mistfall is called the “Decree of Argus.”
  • The Fate Goddess / Dew — a fragment of the Fate Goddess endures, reborn as the mysterious maiden Dew. She roams the ruins and grants fallen heroes immortal flesh.

The Gyldhunters

The resurrected warriors granted immortal flesh by Dew are the Gyldhunters — the player characters. They descend into Gyldenmist-laden ruins to gather Gyldenblod (golden blood) from corrupted creatures and repair the broken Web of Fate. Every class has its own tradition: from the Mercenary battlefield veterans to the Seer’s Reverent and Blasphemer paths.

The Season 1 Story

Season 1 Soul Hunt continues the world’s story: the Varg clan has restarted its forbidden soul experiments, turning countless creatures into rampaging Cocoon Puppets in a bid to create a False God and tear apart the Web of Fate. The season’s story unfolds around the Fate Chart, with Dew calling on all Gyldhunters to fight together. See Season 1 Soul Hunt for the full narrative.
