Builds & Playstyle
The Squire Greatsword is the Withered Knight’s on-ramp to the Greatsword route — the Common-tier blade where the branch’s core loop is meant to be learned: build the weapon to full charge to enter Judgment, apply Wither with the next light attack, then cash it out with a heavy-strike execute. With a flat 20 Attack and no modifier, it favors neither the tempo duelist nor a defensive hybrid; your output is entirely charge discipline and punish timing.
- Where it sits: the bottom of the real Greatsword ladder (Combat Value 200), above the damaged Rusty Squire Greatsword (CV 100) and below the Executioner Greatsword (Rare, CV 300).
- When to use it: your opening sessions as a Withered Knight while you learn Judgment windows and parry counterplay.
- When to swap: once a Rare or better blade drops, or as soon as you can afford one.
Community note: build guides tell new players to learn extraction on the beginner-friendly Mercenary before the Withered Knight, and treat the Common Greatsword as the free practice blade for the class’s Wither-and-execute build; no tier list ranks individual Greatswords. That is community opinion from the launch window, not official data.
