Builds & Playstyle
The Crude Hammer is the Mercenary’s on-ramp to the hammer family — the Common-tier club that teaches the branch’s two signature habits before any of its power shows up. Because the stat sheet is a flat 20 Attack with no modifier, it favors neither the aggressive Hammer build nor a defensive hybrid; your output is entirely charge discipline on Assault Hammer and engage timing on Hammer Dash.
- Where it sits: the bottom rung of the hammer ladder (Combat Value 200), above the damaged Rusty Crude Hammer (CV 100) and below the Military Hammer (Rare, CV 300).
- When to use it: your opening sessions as a Mercenary while you learn hammer spacing and charge windows.
- When to swap: the moment a Rare or better hammer drops, or as soon as you can afford one — the Crude Hammer is a freebie, not a keeper.
Community note: launch-window guides call the Mercenary the game’s most beginner-friendly class and treat the Common hammer as its throwaway leveling pick; no tier list ranks individual hammers, so this is a progression choice rather than a meta one. That is community opinion from the launch window, not official data.
